At Matcraft Combat Sports our classes offer a friendly and welcoming environment for experienced martial artists and beginners alike. Smaller class sizes offer lots of personal instruction and interaction to make sure no one falls through the cracks. Anyone who is looking for hard, technical training, with good vibes and chill people will feel at home immediately. Here, belts track your personal progress and celebrate your improvement, but don’t enforce an artificial hierarchy. Some martial arts schools don’t allow lower ranking belts to ask higher ranking belts to train, here everyone trains with everyone. You will never have to call anyone Sensei or bow to a picture on the wall. If you just want to work hard, get better, and have fun, you’re going to fit in perfectly.

a multidisciplinary approach.

At Matcraft we cover techniques and concepts from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Sport and Combat Sambo, Combat Wrestling, and more. The Matcraft logo embodies this as set of layered rings from each of these grappling arts. A square for Judo and Jiu Jitsu. A cricle for Wrestling, Combat Wrestling and Sambo, and an Octagon for MMA. With everything we teach we try to examine not just how to do the technique, but also when and why. Does the technique work well in multiple sports or is it unique to one setting? Is there something about the rules that encourages people to grapple a certain way while discouraging others? The result is that we want our students to not just be good at Jiu Jitsu, Sambo or any other sport, but to have a deep skill set they can apply to any form of grappling. We want them to develop their own Matcraft. In boxing people talk about a fighter having good Ringcraft if they truly understand the game. Matcraft is the same concept for grappling. It’s takedowns and submissions, but it’s also the ring, the score card, and the clock. It’s the how to fight but also the when and the where. It’s the technique and the context.
